I own Grid 9000s and have owned Grid 8000s, but these Saucony Grid 8500 Boro Washed Denim are a first for me for 8500s.
The 8500 meets both models halfway with a 9000 upper and 8000 midsole & outsole. This pair came out in a pack of 2 denim themed Grids.
My hesitance on denim kicks comes from wanting to wear jeans with them. Normally, it looks a bit odd going denim on denim. That said, the other offwhite/grey color on the shoe help offset these enough to actually rock some jeans with these. If you want to play it safe, wear them with khakis instead. Either way, a light top is going to be the way to go.
If you’re going to make a denim shoe, you should definitely take cues from this pair. Nice pliable yet quality materials and enough extra “color” to break up all the jean fabric makes for a great combination of factors. I definitely recommend this pair, especially if you are curious about the 8500.
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these are the point of the shoe. The denim thankfully is good quality and soft – otherwise comfort might be an issue. The minimal amount of suede used also is very soft and smooth to the touch. Overall, if you like interesting shoes with decent to good material quality, this will definitely be a good value pair for you.
How Do They Fit?
These Saucony Grid 8500 Boro Washed Denim fit true to size thanks to the neoprene sock bootie tongue. As always on these types of kicks, I’m trying a half size down and I find these have plenty of give thanks to the aforementioned softness of the material on the upper. Overall these are very comfy and have a nice slope to the toebox. They not only feel great, they look awesome on foot!
